"Great product... so glad I bought it" 2010-10-14

I grew up in Asia and items like this water boiler is common in most households. It provides easy access to hot water whenever one needs it. I finally bit the bullet and bought one for myself, despite the high price of the item. I am a firm believer in the good quality of Zojirushi's products, being that I also own a breadmaker and rice cooker made by the same manufacturer. Now, my husband and I can make cups of instant coffee, tea and oatmeal any time of day without having to wait. It fits just right under the kitchen counters and the swivel feature is really nice. Another great Zojirushi product overall.

 "I was skeptical...but it's great" 2010-10-02
By C. Lane
I have had a hot water dispenser for years that had a sink mounted spout. The water heater was under the sink & was very convenient. Since I was used to that kind I was skeptical about using a table top one. It is very easy to fill & keeps the water at the proper temperature all day long. I drink a lot of hot tea & make hot cereal everyday also. I love being able to set the timer & have the water hot when I get up in the morning. It does take up more room on the counter space than an under the sink one, however we can now take it along in our RV & use it there too. I would say it works really great for home & traveling.

 "Excellent multi-temp water dispenser" 2010-09-14

I was looking for a multi-temperature hot water dispenser for making tea for me (black, oolong, green) and coffee for my wife (instant).

I thoroughly researched the other available items in this category---both pitchers and dispensers. All others that I considered evidenced either poor build quality and/or inaccurate temperature control.

I've had the CD-WBC40 for about 3 weeks. Build quality is excellent. Temperature control is accurate (including a useful digital readout). A timer allows one to have the CD-WBC40 turn off when you go to bed then turn on in the morning---saving unnecessary 24-hour water heating.

The controls are simple and intuitive. For example, the go-to-sleep timer is set using one button. Dispense rate is excellent (there are two ad hoc dispense rate options). Control buttons are completely sealed against water incursion.

Easy to fill. Easy to clean. No detectable tastes or smells after first-use break in. The wide-window water level display on the front of the CD-WBC40 allows easy determination of the current water level.

For dispensing, you first press the unlock button then hold down the dispense button. In my opinion, this is an excellent safety feature that prevents inadvertent release of scalding water.

I echo others who suggest selecting this 4-liter rather that the smaller capacity model.

"Love the convenience of instant hotwater!" 2010-09-09

I love this water boiler. At first, I had my doubts and concerns when I started looking for a water boiler. After reading other reviews I decided to go with the Zojirushi water boiler. It is great for tea, instant coffee, instant noodles, or when you want hot water to heat up baby's bottle. I don't know how I've lived all these years without one of these water boilers. My good friend also bought one after seeing mine. She absolutely loves it. I love the color and it fits nice on my kitchen countertop.

 "Can't live without it." 2010-08-18

I hesitated before I bought one of these. It was two years ago, I was a fledgling tea connoisseur, and I was frustrated about the hassle of ensuring that I wasn't scorching the increasingly-expensive loose leaf teas that I was purchasing with water too hot for the type of tea -- even ten degrees can make all the difference in the world. The cost of the Zojirushi seemed a bit excessive to me, especially as compared to a hot water thermometer...

...but I am just not patient enough to wait until 212 degree water cools off enough for me to get my tea fix. Sad? Perhaps. True? You bet.

This thing has paid for itself a hundred times over since then. It comes with a few great features, like an auto-shutoff feature, but I'll be honest -- I leave this thing on and hot 24/7, and have done so for well over a year now with absolutely no difficulty from the machine. It has reboiled fresh water once or twice every single day during that time.

Decreasing the temperature (via a button) from 208 to say, 140, takes quite a while. If I had any complaints about the machine, that would probably be my complaint...but it's really a non-issue, as I usually just top off the water with fresh, room-temp, filtered water to hurry things along.

Since becoming interested in tea a few of my friends and relatives have gotten interested in tea, too, and I've actually given a couple of these as gifts. My mother likes hers so much that when she travels between the US and Italy (she lives there for part of the year), she actually lugs this thing along...and she used to hate tea! (It's nice for french-press coffee and hot chocolate mixes that call for water too, though.)
